Mechanisms of Power

In the exhibition “Mechanisms of Power”, the Frankfurter Kunstverein presents two artistic positions in which fundamental aspects of power and its expression are negotiated. Guatemalan performance artist Regina José Galindo subjects herself mentally and physically to extreme situations in order to probe the dynamics of social power relations. In his mechanical sculptures, Italian artist Arcangelo Sassolino pushes the industrial materials he employs to the limits of their resistance, revealing an ever-present potential for the release of power and an accompanying risk of destruction.
